Details and Features

AL29-4C is a stainless steel alloy designed for extreme resistance to corrosion, pitting and stress corrosion cracking. This resistance makes it an ideal choice for venting the corrosive condensation in high efficiency gas or oil furnaces - typically 86% efficiency or greater. Its low alloy content and corrosion resistance makes it an economical choice, and by using AL 29-4C, manufacturers have benefited by being able to extend their warranties.

Since 1983, furnace and vent manufacturers have specified AL29-4C alloy in high efficiency furnace and venting designs (typically 86% or greater efficiency). High efficiency furnaces extract so much heat from the exhaust that the highly acidic water vapor in the exhaust condenses. This moisture accumulation is corrosive and damaging to standard stainless liners and chimneys. Additionally, corn burning can be corrosive due to the acids & moisture it produces.

  • Designed for extreme resistance to corrosion
  • Customize your chimney liner kit in four easy steps
  • Lifetime Warranty (For Oil & Gas)
  • Free Shipping

Note: AL29-4C Stainless Steel is a special stainless alloy designed to prevent corrosion in flues that vent high-efficiency gas, oil, and corn-burning appliances. AL29-4C should only be used for category 1 residential appliances that won't exceed a flue temperature of 600 degrees. Due to the temperature rating, the AL29-4C cannot be used for venting solid fuels such as wood.

Measuring & Installing Your High Efficiency Chimney Liner Kit

Measuring for your chimney liner is one of the most important steps. This will ensure the chimney liner will fit down your masonry flue. Be sure the proper size liner, sized to the appliance you are connecting to, will fit down your current masonry chimney. Here is a link to our helpful measuring guides.

How to Order a High Efficiency Chimney Liner Kit

Customize your High Efficiency Chimney Liner Kit step by step with our easy ordering menu. Included in your chimney liner kit:

Step 1: AL29-4C Stainless Steel Chimney Liner

To begin with, select the proper size diameter chimney liner for the appliance you are connecting to. If you need assistance sizing, contact one of Rockford's Certified Technicians and we will be happy to assist.

Note: The sizes give in the menu are inside diameters. Add 1/4" for the outside diameter of the liner.

Next, select the proper length for the chimney height. We fabricate each liner kit in five foot increments. You will want to round up and choose the liner length that is the nearest length.

Insulation Kit: We strongly recommend chimney insulation for most gas and oil liners. The higher the efficiency is for a gas / oil appliance, the lower the flue temperature is going to be. This means the flue gas will condense more rapidly, creating a lot of moisture in the liner that could run down to the appliance.

The insulation will keep the flue temperature hotter, preventing the flue gas from condensing as rapidly. When the chimney is located on an exterior wall, and located in a cold climate, insulation is a great choice. Insulation improves the operation of your appliance by creating a steady draft for safety and efficiency.

Step 2: Bottom Connector

Secondly, select the Bottom Connector, which will connect the flexible chimney liner to the appliance. In general, there are two different styles of Bottom Connectors. When connecting horizontally to the appliance, or through a masonry thimble, you will choose the Tee Connector. When connecting vertically to the appliance, you will choose the Vertical Appliance Connector.

You will find an application summary for each Bottom Connector in the dropdown menu. Keep in mind, the connectors are made to fit around the flex liner and will be 1/4" to 1/2" larger than the diameter listed.

Step 3: Top Plate

Thirdly, you will select a Top Plate size which will terminate and secure the chimney liner in place at the top of the chimney. Choose the size & style top plate that will fit your chimney flue tile or brick opening.

You will find an application summary for each Top Plate in the dropdown menu.

Step 4: Rain Cap

Lastly, select a Rain Cap to place over the collar on the Top Plate. This will protect & keep critters, debris, and weather out of the chimney flue.
