The Black standard 2" trim kit is necessary to finish off the fireplace installation. The 2" trim will cover the gap between the fireplace and combustible material if you are not planning on bringing noncombustible facing material directly to the fireplace. The trim kit measures 3" on the top and sides of the fireplace. The standard black trim will match the fireplace and provide a finished and clean look.
